- British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies
- The BABCP was founded in 1972 as an interest group for people involved in the practice and theory of behaviour therapy. As the important role of behavioural and cognitive approaches in a wide range of settings has been established and recognised, the Association has grown both numerically (from 195 members originally to around 4,800 in year 2002) and in the scope of functions it undertakes. The BABCP's website provides information on the association, how to become a member, its annual conference, and other training and events.
- British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy
- The BACP website gives information for both counselling and psychotherapy professionals and members of the public wanting to find a therapist or counselor.
- British Confederation of Psychotherapists
- The BCP is an association of institutions, which comprise psychoanalysts, analytical psychologists, psychoanalytic psychotherapists and child psychotherapists. The website gives information on the institutions.
- British Association of Psychotherapists
- Specialising in individual psychoanalytic psychotherapy for adults, adolescents and children, the BAP, founded in 1951, brings together psychotherapists with different theoretical traditions, offering intensive clinical work and professional trainings in both Jungian Analytic and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy.
- European Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Therapy
- The EABCT is an umbrella organisation that brings together a large number of individual associations from over 20 European countries. This website provides information on the individual member associations of EABCT and the activities that support them - the EABCT's constitution, board of directors, congress and newsletter.
- Association for Cognitive Analytic Therapy
- The ACAT site explains what Cognitive Analytic Therapy is, who it can be used on and what it feels like to be treated. There are details of forthcoming and past conferences, and how to train as a Cognitive Analytic Therapist.

- COSCA provides information on training to become a counsellor or psychotherapist in Scotland, as well as information on the association's activities.
- European Association for Psychotherapy
- The European Association for Psychotherapy represents 128 organisations from 41 European countries.
- United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy
- The United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy aims to promote psychotherapy for the public benefit, as well as promoting high standards of training and practice.
- Association of Child Psychotherapists
- The Association of Child Psychotherapists is the professional organisation for Child Psychotherapy in the United Kingdom. It was founded in 1949. The Association recognises and monitors seven trainings in Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy. The ACP has links with European psychotherapeutic organisations through the European Sector (EFPP), of which it is a founder member. Membership of the ACP is recognised in most areas of the world as a qualification to practice in the field of child and adolescent psychotherapy, and ACP members currently work in almost 20 countries worldwide.
- European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector
- This European umbrella organization links together national networks of adult, child and adolescent and group psychoanalytic psychotherapists. The EFPP website contains conference information, as well as news and book reviews.
- Association for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the NHS
- The APP seeks to advance the practice of psychoanalytic psychotherapy in the National Health Service and other Public Services by helping to co-ordinate activities and educational facilities for psychoanalytic psychotherapists working in the NHS and other Public Services. The APP website provides information on specialist sections which address the particular concerns of psychoanalytic psychotherapists working in diverse settings within the public services.
- The National Organisation for the Treatment of Abusers
- NOTA is committed to the prevention of sexual abuse by influencing policy and by promoting and supporting effective interventions primarily with people who sexually abuse. NOTA provides a support network for professionals involved in work with sex offenders, and identifies and influences key areas of social policy. NOTA has a growing multi-disciplinary membership comprised of practitioners, managers and policy makers from the public, private and voluntary sectors.
- The European Academy of Occupational Health Psychology
- The European Academy of Occupational Health Psychology promotes and facilitates the development of research, professional practice and education in the application of psychology to occupational health and safety. More specifically, the aim of researchers, practitioners and educators in this field is to design healthy work systems and organisations, and to protect and enhance the health, safety and well-being of workers.
- Association for Dance Movement Therapy UK
- ADMTUK aims to develop communication amongst dance movement therapists and promote its use throughout the United Kingdom in accordance with the highest professional standards. The Association works with the other art therapy professions in the UK (music, drama, art) and is active in the continuing development of a European Dance Movement Therapy network and supports international sharing. Dance Movement Therapists work with a wide variety of clients including people who are emotionally distressed, people with learning difficulties, those with physical or mental illness and people who want to use the medium for personal growth.

- The British Association of Art Therapists is the professional organisation for art therapists in the United Kingdom and has its own Code of Ethics of Professional Practice. Comprising of 20 regional groups, a European and an international section, it maintains a comprehensive directory of qualified art therapists and works to promote art therapy in the UK.
- British Association for Sexual and Relationship Therapy
- BASRT is the UK’s national specialist charity for sexual and relationship therapy. BASRT was established in 1976 and includes members with wide-ranging professional experience in medicine, psychology, nursing, social work, counselling and psychotherapy. The Association maintains links with related professional organisations and is a member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy. BASRT promotes the education and training of clinicians and therapists working in the fields of sexual and couple relationships, sexual dysfunction and sexual health.

- American Psychological Association
- Based in Washington, DC, the American Psychological Association is a scientific and professional organization that represents psychology in the United States. With more than 150,000 members, APA is the largest association of psychologists worldwide.
- The National Association for Poetry Therapy
- The NAPT supports the field of poetry therapy through specific projects. NAPT members comprise psychotherapists, counselors, psychologists, social workers, nurses, occupational/ recreational therapists, ministers, pastoral counselors, psychiatrists, poets and songwriters. NAPT members work in many settings where people deal with personal and communal pain and the search for growth. As poetry therapists, they use all forms of literature and the language arts.
- American Philosophical Practitioners Association
- The American Philosophical Practitioners Association, a non-profit educational corporation incorporated in 1998, is the most prominent national association for philosophical practice, and is the largest of its kind both in America and internationally. The APPA encourages philosophical awareness and advocates leading the examined life. Philosophy can be practiced through client counseling, group facilitation, organizational consulting or educational programs.
- American Counselling Association
- The American Counseling Association is a not-for-profit, professional and educational organization that is dedicated to the growth and enhancement of the counseling profession. Founded in 1952, ACA is the world's largest association exclusively representing professional counselors in various practice settings. By providing leadership training, publications, continuing education opportunities, and advocacy services to nearly 52,000 members, ACA helps counseling professionals develop their skills and expand their knowledge base.
- Association for Advancement of Behavior Therapy
- The Association for Advancement of Behavior Therapy is a professional, interdisciplinary organization that is concerned with the application of behavioural and cognitive sciences to understanding human behavior, developing interventions to enhance the human condition, and promoting the appropriate utilization of these interventions. A not-for-profit organization, AABT has over 4,500 mental health professionals and students who utilize and/or are interested in empirically based behavior therapy or cognitive behavior therapy.
- Gerontological Society of America
- Established in 1945, the Gerontological Society of America is a non-profit professional organization with more than 5,000 members in the field of aging. GSA provides researchers, educators, practitioners, and policy makers with opportunities to understand, advance, integrate, and use basic and applied research on aging to improve the quality of life as one ages. GSA is the oldest and largest national multidisciplinary scientific organization devoted to the advancement of gerontological research.

- The American Psychotherapy Association promotes the field of psychotherapy and those professionals who are committed to the practice, by providing credentialing, standards of practice, professional identity and self-regulation for the psychotherapy profession. The APA encourages individual professional growth and works to elevate professional standards for practicing psychotherapy in various disciplines such as counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, psychology, nurse psychotherapy, pastoral counseling, psychiatry, psychoanalysis, psychotherapy, and related fields.
- American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy
- The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy is the professional association for the field of marriage and family therapy, representing the professional interests of more than 23,000 marriage and family therapists throughout the United States, Canada and abroad. Since it's founding in 1942, the AAMFT has been involved with increasing the understanding, research and education in the field of marriage and family therapy, and ensuring that the public's needs are met by trained practitioners.
- The Society for Sex Therapy and Research
- Created in 1975, SSTAR is a community of professionals who have clinical and/or research interests in human sexual concerns. It facilitates communication among clinicians who treat problems of sexual identity, sexual function, and reproductive life and provides a forum for exchange of ideas between those interested in research in human sexuality and those whose primary activities are patient care. SSTAR membership includes professionals in varying disciplines such as Psychology, Medicine (including Psychiatry, Ob/Gyn, Urology, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine), Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Nursing, Sexology, and the sciences.
- The American Art Therapy Association, Inc.
- The AATA is an organization of professionals dedicated to the belief that the creative process involved in the making of art is healing and life enhancing. Its mission is to serve its members and the general public by providing standards of professional competence, and developing and promoting knowledge in, and of, the field of art therapy.
