Aims & Scope

Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy is a leading international peer-reviewed journal in psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Its remit is to promote standards of excellence in the field, and to act as a vehicle for the exchange of views and the dissemination of psychoanalytic psychotherapy research in the public sphere. It is the journal of the Association for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the NHS, and publishes papers on theoretical topics, clinical services, supervision, teaching, training and research.

The main focus of the journal is on the study of work undertaken in the public services, such as the National Health Service, social services, voluntary organizations and education, but the editorial board is happy to consider papers based on relevant work undertaken elsewhere. Book reviews and review articles are published in addition to research papers, and themed issues are devoted to topics of special interest.

Peer Review Integrity

All research articles in this journal, including those in special issues, special sections or supplements, have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymized refereeing by at least two independent referees.
